"Well, I Have Been Told That Theirs is the Party of Inclusion..."

I can't even find the words to express my rage at this shit.

The Huffington Post: "The Ascendancy of Barack Obama in Small Town America."

Read the Rick Murphy column that Baldwin cites in its entirety. I dare you.

Christ, this couldn't be more offensive if Murphy danced on MLK's grave. Who actually thinks they can get away with this stuff?

The editor of the paper, apparently! That's what kills me! I'm not naive enough to believe that there aren't still people who subscribe to this kind of idiocy; but aren't there vetting protocols? Is there no one at that paper who said, "you know what, Murph? This is bullshit. And we're not going to print it."

I think the editor of the paper is just as much of a right-wing loudmouth as the "columnist" Murphy, and probably thought it was hi-larious.

I'm all for freedom of the press - you can say whatever you want to say, but I sure hope the people who subscribe to the "Independent" (yeah, right) pull their advertising $$, cancel their subscriptions, and generally tell Della Femina and Murphy to take their blatant racism and shove it up their asses.

That's the big problem with how consolidated traditional print media has become - there aren't many options, so it takes something as ridiculously offensive as this "article" to get people to sit up and take notice of how little choice they have in where they get their information.
